Letter from the PNS President, Amtul Farheen, MD, FAAN

Colleagues,
Welcome to the Pennsylvania Neurological Society! I would like to thank you all for all that you do at the frontlines during these unprecedented times. We greatly admire our neuro-heroes!!
As a brief introduction, I am a Neurologist specializing in neuromuscular medicine and EMGs. I am proud to serve veterans at Lebanon VAMC. I am also a clinical assistant professor of neurology at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. I am involved with national and local advocacy efforts with The American Academy of Neurology (AAN) and PNS.
I would like to ensure that the PNS is offering membership benefits that are of interest and value to you. The new website is a wealth of information and resources, and I encourage you to explore it. I am excited to be working along side the Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED). We are starting new committees like the advocacy committee and the resident committee. With the advent of these new committees, we are calling for increased member involvement at all levels, especially residents and students. We can also extend our social media presence if we have member interest and involvement.
Despite being virtual, we held a very successful annual meeting in 2020. It was very well attended and had great speakers covering major topics in neurology. We are gearing up for another exciting annual meeting this December 11-12 using an updated platform! Stay tuned for more details!
I welcome ideas from the membership for setting up events or website content that you may be interested in. This is your society, and I want to work for you.
