Abstract Competition

resident Scientific Abstract and Case study Abstract cOMPETITIONS

Residents are invited to submit research abstracts for the competitions to be held in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of the Pennsylvania Neurological Society. See eligibility requirements below. Abstracts will be submitted online only and must be received by August 22, 2025. No emailed abstracts will be accepted.

Timing and Abstract Submission
Abstracts may represent work in progress or may have been previously submitted for publication or presentation at a national meeting in 2025. Further, abstracts submitted in this competition are not precluded from submission for future publication or presentation. The competition is part of a regional meeting and, clearly, will not preclude the fellow from submitting the abstract in a future endeavor.

    • A maximum of three submissions will be considered per first author. If more than three are submitted, only the first three submissions will be reviewed.
    • Abstracts are to be submitted electronically via Oxford Abstracts by August 22, 2025. Paper and emailed copies will not be accepted.
    • Submissions should be written and formatted according to accepted standards.

Eligible Competitors
All residents are eligible to enter the competitions who are enrolled in a training program in Pennsylvania. Only first authors may present an abstract orally and be eligible to win any prizes.

Abstract Review, Selection and Notification
Submissions will be reviewed by a Chapter panel of cardiologists. Top scoring Residents will be selected and invited to the  annual meeting for an in-person poster gallery. The finalists and poster presenters will be notified on or after September 12, 2025.

Presentation: Date, Time and Location

The Poster Gallery will take place Saturday morning, October 11 at the Pittsburgh Fairmont Hotel.

Prizes and Funding

    • Top prize: $500
    • 1st runner up: $400
    • 2nd runner up: $300
    • Additionally, the 20 top scoring submissions will receive a travel stipend of $300 with the submission of an expense reimbursement form and receipts. There is only one stipend allowed per person, even if that person has more than one top scoring submission.

Additional Considerations
Residents entering the competition must have significantly participated in the research endeavor (to be confirmed by the training program).
